| | | Getting Quit Meds

Quitting medications, like the nicotine patch, are available from a
number of sources. Remember, these products are most effective when
taken in conjunction with a support program.

 |
Local retailers.
You can usually buy most quitting medications from your local drugstore. The over-the-counter products are often locked in cabinets, so make sure you ask for help in reviewing your options. If you want to use a prescription product like Zyban®, you'll need a prescription. In some instances, your health plan may offer to reimburse you for certain quit meds, so consult your doctor.

 |
Local clinics & programs.
Some face-to-face counseling programs include quitting medications as part of their programs. To locate a service near you, go to the Smoking Cessation Program Directory.
